Winning Defensive Football eBook Richard Bell
The thoughts, ideas, techniques, and schemes that are presented in this multiple defense are outstanding. Author Richard Bell does an outstanding job presenting his approach to defending various offenses such as the flexbone, spread, and I formation attacks. The best thing is that any coach at any level can adapt any part or all of the packages to their specific situation. As a Head High School Football Coach and former defensive college assistant for many years; I find this book to be one of the best and one of the most valuable in my collection. I highly recommend it to any aspiring defensive coach or any head coach trying to improve his defense and program. Coach Bell did not hold back!Jim Pisegna

Winning Defensive Football eBook Richard Bell Reviews
Coach Bell has written an outstanding book on defensive football. As a high school defensive coordinator who combines both the 4-2-5 and 3-4, as does Coach Bell, I was very interested to see his system. I also know that Air Force often competed at a size and speed disadvantage (just like a high school team) that has to be overcome by fundamentals, teamwork and coaching your players up. These points made this book very attractive to me.
The good There is no fluff in this book. Coach Bell covers philosophy, position fundamentals & techniques, fronts, coverages, run fits, perimeter force, pursuit, zone and man pressure, short yardage, game planning and practice organization, as well as defending the option and the spread. There is so much information and it is such high quality information that any coach interested in Coach Bell's scheme has all the information necessary to implement it, although at the high school level, you would probably not try to install it all.
The one minor criticism Others may disagree, but I was frustrated by the book's organization. I did not like that individual position play was covered before the fronts and coverages were introduced. I found myself constantly having to flip back and forth in the book to understand the individual assignments' relationships to the fronts/coverages. To me, that is putting the "how" before the "what" and the "why". However, this is a minor point that should not overshadow the great information in this book.
I can't wait to start implementing this information this summer. I am grateful to Coach Bell for sharing his tremendous coaching experience. I know my players will be better for it. Finally, I do not know Coach Bell or the publisher. I am writing this review honestly, based on purchasing and reading the book.

Richard Bell's Winning Defensive Football
Great info, written in an easily understood manner.
Everything I thought it would be. Great book!
Was ok.
This is a very informative book indeed!
If you are looking for an idea of how the Air Force Academy ran their 3-4 defense then this book is for you.
It is loaded with great info.
I do have to agree that it is not greatly organized, but once you have it figured out how to understand the order of it you find it has a lot of great defensive football in it.
I'm a high school DC who's run a 3-4 package as his base for years. This book is probably the single best printed 3-4 resource I've come across yet. Beyond that, however, is the fact that it's also one of the best defensive resources I've encountered.
I put this book on the same level as Vanderlinden's "Eagle and Stack Defenses" book. Same kind of detail and thought and quality of product.
If you are thinking about buying this book, buy it.
